Before use, safety & care

Thoroughly rinse both pieces in clean, dechlorinated water before placing them in your aquarium. Do not use soap or household detergents. Inspect for damage, sharp edges, or loose material. Fully submerge to release trapped air and check stable placement before use.

Use freestanding on stable aquarium substrate, and do not stack. Leave about 0.8 in (20 mm) of hand space beside each grip and about 3 in (77 mm) of clearance above the shell for cup removal, plus room for plants.

To lift the cup, steady the outer shell and lift evenly using both side grips. Let it drain above the shell, then support the base when carrying it. Do not lift by plants or liner, force a stuck cup, or lever against aquarium glass.

Every aquarium is different. Buyers are responsible for checking suitability for their water conditions, plants, fish, shrimp, snails, and other livestock. Check gaps and clearances for your animals, especially fry and small shrimp. Monitor after installation, remove the product if any concern arises, and clean the shell floor, supports and drainage openings with a soft brush and water.

Questions

Can I use aquasoil or fine sand?

Only with a separate aquarium filter mesh liner with openings no larger than 0.18 mm, using rinsed media of at least 0.3 mm. Without a liner, use rinsed coarse gravel larger than 3 mm. A liner is not included and is not root-proof.

Is the cup watertight?

No. It is a draining cup with fifteen openings in its floor, not a watertight plant pot.

How much room does it need?

The shell is about 5.02 × 4.20 in. Allow about 0.8 in beside each grip and about 3 in above the shell so you can lift the cup out, plus room for plants.
